Ravi Teja Marni was born on May 10, 1993, in the beautiful city of Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh. He was raised in Srikakulam. His father, Mr. Ratnaji Rao Marni, is a successful businessman who is into farming and agriculture. His mother, Mrs. Satya Vani, is a dedicated homemaker. Ravi also has one younger brother, and they are a close-knit family.
Education
Ravi completed his schooling at St. Joseph High School in Srikakulam with the ICSE board. Then he pursued his intermediate studies at Narayana Junior College in Vizag. Later, he graduated with a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering degree from GMRIT College.
Hobbies
Ravi enjoys watching movies and exploring new places. Interestingly, he once dreamt of becoming a farmer and settling down in his birthplace, East Godavari.
Childhood Story and Memories
Let’s shed a spotlight on his childhood memories. He got the influence of his father, who is a movie lover, and took him to watch movies every week when he was a child, which planted the seeds of the arts. However, in his career journey, it was his school that played an important role in shaping his skills in the arts. In the school syllabus, he had the English drama of the famous writer William Shakespeare called Julius Caesar, which inspired him a lot. He had many cultural programs in his schools, and he actively participated in writing and acting for events like Teacher’s Day and annual functions. He also had an interest in photography, used to take pictures, and practiced photography at the age of 14.
However, all these experiences fostered Ravi’s creativity and abilities, which ultimately helped him make his career in the film industry.
School or College Memories
Well, his journey as a writer started in his intermediate studies. He was in the 11th grade at Narayana Junior College but never got any interest in his studies because of their strict rules and treatment. Till his matriculation, he was interested in studies, but in his inter-college, he felt frustrated and tried to leave the hostel. He tried everything he could to go back home. Hence, the chaos started, and he started seeing the stories from the classroom. The campus is located in Sheelanagar near Visaka Dairy, so many people used to roam around, which led him to start writing some immature stuff at that point. Later, he used to sneak out and watch movies instead of studying for the EAMCET exam. Later in his 2nd year, he was a day scholar, and freedom started to roam like a free bird used to go for every film. Then, during his btech, he decided on a few days of college that he should be a director. He used to be in the film club and started making some short films. He made three short films that never got finished. Later, he came to Hyd and shot a short film, which was released on YouTube.
Well, he also went to Annapurna Films School for a few days and dropped out later, assisting Ramgopal Varma for Vangaveeti.
Struggles and Challenges
Ravi faced numerous challenges but created his first opportunity himself by using his father’s savings to produce and direct his movie. Despite his financial stabilities during COVID-19, his movie was released on OTT and received good appreciation. This achievement led him to sign a contract with the Geetha Arts production house, among others.
Ravi draws inspiration from his father and wants to make him proud.
A Lifetime Experience
Coming from his experience on camera, he shot a few sequences for Vangaveeti, which helped him to produce and direct a movie where he and his team used to stay in Mumbai and take care of art props and costumes and plan for the shoot. He used to go and rent the props in Andheri and slowly learn production handling and direction, which later helped him make his debut movie Johaar within the budget.

He has worked on several notable projects, including Johaar, Arjunaphalguna, Kotabommali PS, and the series “Yakshini”.
Among these, Johaar holds a special place in his heart. The way he did the movie and executed it is a very lovable process for his entire team.
