Vijay Devarakonda is considered as a South Indian Sensational hero of the year 2019, he even won South Indian International Movie Critics Award as the Best Actor for his performance in 2019. His speech at the audio launch of the film Arjun Reddy in the year 2017 made him famous overnight and that speech of his increased rage among the youth and made them his fans for a lifetime. Vijay Devarkonda was born on 9 May 1989, to Mr.Govardhan Rao Devarkonda (A television actor and an ad-film director) and Mrs. Madhavi Devarkonda (Proprietor of SpeakEasy in Hyderabad, personality development and soft skills development trainer). Vijay Devarkonda has a younger brother Anand Devarkonds, he is a film actor and made his debut in the film Dorasani released in the year 2019.
Vijay Devarkonda was first enrolled at Eton Temple High school at Saroornagar, Hyderabad. Later he was then moved to Sri Satya Sai secondary school, Puttaparthi. The learning at that school was completely different from that of the hustle-bustle of the city.
Vijay Devarkonda feels happy for studying in such an amazing school, students of that school were always encouraged to improve their interests and extracurricular activities. Vijay says that the peaceful environment of the school helped him with his creative, acting, and storytelling skills.
Vijay Devarakonda then went to Little Flower Junior college to complete his intermediate then later he joined Badruka College to pursue his Degree. Vijay Devarakonda usually used to be very much involved in workshops and plays.
Though he started working in the films in 2011(Nuvvila directed by Ravi Babu), he even worked in the film “Life is Beautiful” in 2012 by Shekar Kamula but these films didn’t gain much recognition for him.
Vijay Devarkonda turned the spotlight towards him in the year 2015 after his performance in the film Yevade Subramanyam. Vijay received high praise for his role in this film and got a breakthrough from this film. Later in the year 2016, he made his debut in the film Pelli Choopulu, this film can be considered as the turning point in his career as he won Filmfare Award for Best Film – Telugu and National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
Next, he starred in the films like Dwaraka-2017, Arjun Reddy-2017, Ye Mantram Vesave-2017, Savitri-2018, Geetha Govindam-2018, NOTA-2018, Taxiwala-2018, Dear Comrade-2019, Worlds Famous Lover-2020, and Vijay will be starring opposite Ananya Pandey in his upcoming film being directed by Puri Jagannath.
Arjun Reddy was the film that bought him the ultimate success of his career, it was the film that completely changed the perspective of South-Indian audiences. Though the movie received many criticisms it managed to perform very well at the box office and the collections were very high than expected. This film was further remade in many different languages like Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam.
Vijay Devarakonda even owns a production house named King of the Hill Entertainment, the maiden, or the initial production was made to the film “Meeku Mathrame Cheptha” in the year 2019, the movie even ranked well among grossing Telugu films.
He then later has become the youth icon and most of the youth have followed his style and tried to talk, walk and completely be like him. Every other youngster has started to admire him and all the girls were madly in love with him and lost themselves in thoughts of Vijay Devarakonda.
As he was considered to be the youth icon, all the brand endorsements were given to him, he turned into a brand ambassador for many brands which made him very much popular and famous in no time. He was the brand ambassador of garment store Manyavar, food delivery app Zomato and many more.
When asked about Plan B to Vijay Devarkonda if the acting didn’t work for him as a career what would he choose, Vijay Devarkonda answered saying that he’d love to choose Writing as his career.
Vijay Devarakonda didn’t stop there, he started spreading his wings and started a non-profitable foundation named Devarakonda foundation, it ensured employment for 1,00,000 merit and deserving youngsters of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The organization was helpful during many tragic events as the foundation was active in providing or donating the funds to the state governments when required.
An amount of 5,00,000 Rupees was donated to the Kerala flood relief fund, the foundation even helped a kickboxer Ganesh Ambari with an amount of 24,000 Rupees, the foundation even made their donation for Martyr’s families of Pulwama attack, 25,00,000 Rupees were donated to Telangana CM’S relief fund by auctioning his Filmfare award and the foundation made a big move by donating 1,30,00,000 INR to combat COVID-19.
His support for the people during the Covid-19 pandemic was commendable as he started an initiative to fight the crisis raised during the pandemic. Over 9000+ volunteers donated more than 1.5 crores to be a part of the community.
The foundation has successfully provided 20,000+ families with all the groceries and essentials required in their daily life and all this was done using the Middle-Class Fund (MCF) donated by volunteers as a community effort.
He was famously known as ROWDY, once when asked he said that all his family members used to call him Rowdy whenever he did mischievous things and turned around being naughty. So, he used the term as an identity for his fans and himself, then later in the year 2020 taking this as an opportunity Vijay Devarakonda launched his own fashion brand ‘Rowdy Wear’ on Myntra an e-commerce portal. This lit fire among the youngsters as 9 out of 10 young men started wearing the t-shirts printed Rowdy on them and then, it was again success to Devarkonda.

- Best Telugu Actor by Behindwoods Gold Medal for the film Dear Comrade in the year 2020.
- Vijay Devarakonda got nominated for the Best Telugu Category for the Filmfare Awards South for the film Geetha Govindam in the year 2019 but didn’t receive it.
